Smoked salmon Inside out roll & sushi sandwich

Inside Out Sushi Roll with Smoked Salmon Topping

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of sushi nori (seaweed)
  • 1 cup sushi rice (short-grain rice)
  • 1 tablespoon sushi vinegar (Sushi Su)
  • 100g surimi (imitation crab sticks)
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 ripe avocado, thinly sliced
  • 50g cream cheese, sliced
  • 100g smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • spring onions, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Cook the sushi rice. Once cooked, let it cool slightly and mix in the sushi vinegar to season the rice. Let it cool completely before using.
  2. Place a plastic wrap over a sushi rolling mat (bamboo mat) to prevent sticking.
  3. Place a sheet of sushi nori, shiny side down, on the plastic wrap.
  4. Evenly spread the sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border along the edges.
  5. Arrange the surimi, cucumber, avocado, and cream cheese in a horizontal line across the center of the rice.
  6. Carefully lift the edge of the bamboo mat closest to you and start rolling the sushi away from you, using your fingers to keep the fillings in place. Roll it tightly and press gently to seal the roll.
  7. Cover the sushi roll with thinly sliced smoked salmon, ensuring it sticks to the rice.
  8. Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi roll into 8 pieces.
  9. For the topping, add some thinly sliced spring onion and the sushi roll can be served!

Sushi Sandwich with Smoked Salmon

Ingredients:

  • 1 square mold (or improvised square container)
  • 1 cup sushi rice (short-grain rice)
  • 1 tablespoon sushi vinegar (Sushi Su)
  • 100g cream cheese
  • 200g smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons wasabi masago 

Instructions:

  1. Cook the sushi rice. Once cooked, let it cool slightly and mix in the sushi vinegar to season the rice. Let it cool completely before using.
  2. Prepare the square mold by lining it with plastic wrap to facilitate easy removal.
  3. Place a layer of sushi rice at the bottom of the mold and press it down firmly to create a compact base.
  4. Spread an even layer of cream cheese over the rice.
  5. Layer thinly sliced smoked salmon on top of the cream cheese to cover the entire surface.
  6. Repeat the rice, cream cheese, and smoked salmon layers to create a sushi sandwich structure.
  7. Carefully remove the sushi sandwich from the mold using the plastic wrap as a handle.
  8. Generously sprinkle wasabi masago over the top of the sushi sandwich for that extra kick of flavor.
  9. Garnish with furikake or spring onions, if desired and serve to your customer!
