Typically, Takoyaki is filled with octopus (tako) The flour based Takoyaki batter is mixed with eggs and water or dashi (Japanese stock) and is made in a special Takoyaki pan (’yaki’ stands for this cooking method) The combination of the octopus, dashi and egg gives it a unique savory flavour.
