

Sliced bao buns with Tatsuta-age
Chinese sliced buns, also known as Gua Bao (literally means cut bread) is a fluffy white bun which you can fill with varies kinds of ingrediënts. The Akaya Chinese sliced buns are pre-steamed. You can defrost them or let them steam again. Gua Bao is a Taiwanese famous street food and became more populair in western countries in the 2000s.


You can fill the bao buns with different kinds of protein and toppings. In this recipe we use the Tatsuta-age as filling. Tatsuta-age is tempura fried chicken and is nice and crunchy which makes for a good contrast with the soft buns.
Ingrediënts:
- Tatsuta-age
- Kewpie mayonaise
- Lettuce
- Carrots
- Avocado
How to make Gua Bao?
- Steam the sliced buns.
- Fry the tatsuta-age.
- Slice the carrot and avocado.
- Fill the sliced buns with lettuce, then the sliced vegetables and the chicken.
- As sauce we ad kewpie mayonaise.
